Volunteering at St Benedict's Hospice
Our hospice relies heavily on the dedicated army of volunteers who proudly give up their own time to support us in so many ways across a range of our services. If you could spare some time each week to help St Benedict's Hospice, we'd love to hear from you. There are opportunities in a range of roles and by volunteering with us you can learn new skills, make new friends, help support our community and have fun!
We are looking for both social and therapeutic horticulture volunteers and also gardening volunteers to support the exciting new development of our gardens and social and therapeutic programmes here at St Benedict’s Hospice. Social and therapeutic horticulture uses plants, gardening and associated activities to support the physical, social and psychological health and well-being of our patients, carers, staff, volunteers and the wider community.Any relevant training and updates will be provided by our occupational therapy team.
For more information contact: Julie Dagg, Specialist Palliative Care Services Co-ordinator Tel: 0191 5128433 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org

Charity Shop Volunteers
Our charity shops are in need of volunteers 7 days a week. We are looking for volunteers to help with sorting donations, processing stock, tagging items as well as till operators and shop floor assistants. This is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to gain real experience of working in retail. All training will be given and shifts can be very flexible.
Contact Mandy.Kaigg@stbenedictsretail.co.uk for more information and to apply.
Transport - Volunteer Drivers
Our transport service is a key part of the Charity's provision and operates 5 days each week. Each journey is customised to meet the needs of individual patients and provided by our team of volunteer drivers whose schedule is agreed with our Transport Co-ordinator. If you can offer at least a half day each week, preferably more, and enjoy good health with a reasonable level of fitness, it means we can provide more patients with the services they need and which we know they value. In order to comply with our vehicle and passenger insurance arrangements, we can only consider people who have a clean driving licence with D or D1 entitlement to drive minibuses and are aged between 25 and 75 years of age. We also need people to undergo a DBS clearance prior to joining the team.
